College Application Consultant

During my PhD program in cultural anthropology at Stanford, I was highly trained in proposal writing and I earned many national fellowships and grants (most graduate programs do not emphasize these skills). Successful college application essays employ a very similar approach, and I have worked with students who were accepted by distinguished colleges and universities, including Duke, USC, the UCs, Rice, Minnesota, McGill, Michigan, and CUNY, and I have helped students develop successful Fulbright applications. At Stanford I also served as student representative on the graduate admissions committee, which provided valuable insight into the admissions process.

Film Consultant

My particular background as a social scientist includes training in visual analysis (in addition to teaching at an art institute for 20 years) and I have served as a consultant on various projects. Especially for film, my training in race, gender, and class analysis (among many other areas) has been of enormous benefit for filmmakers who are interested in creating meaningful, contemporary content.
